Whether you are looking for something to do with the kids, or you just want to send special Valentines to your loved ones, easy and inexpensive projects are abound at local craft stores.

In fact, a trip to Hobby Lobby can be almost overstimulating. Anything you can imagine is available for the holiday, including stickers of every shape and size, wooden boxes to decorate, party favor sacks, frames, candy molds and more.

Then, hit the holiday aisle to select from an array of stickers (about $2 a package). From two-dimensional felt candy hearts to red glittering lips, the sticker choices are practically endless.

Rubber stamps are great for those with less than perfect penmanship. Starting at about $5, various slogans can be stamped on in style, and for about as much, you can select from a variety of inks, including the distressed ink that is wildly popular in scrapbooking today.

Candy also is readily available these days and useful on many edible projects. Cookies and cupcakes are the obvious choices, so use pastel message candy hearts to personalize your treats. Kids obviously embrace this artful medium, so let them use licorice, sour cherries or red hots to embellish to their hearts' desire.

Cut up newspapers or any scrap paper into the desired size. After you've cut a rectangle shape, fold in half and staple in the middle of the crease to mimic the look of a newspaper or magazine.
