She has stocked the store with gift items, Christmas decor, a few pieces of furniture and a selection of her original paintings and prints. She plans to add wreaths and swags and a few Thanksgiving-themed pieces.

Her pictures are shown in galleries in Punta Gorda and Venice, Fla., and her work has been hung in a Naples gallery the past 25 years. She completed 64 paintings for The Edgewater Beach Hotel in Naples and 11 paintings for the Gulf Coast Hospital in Fort Myers, Fla.

Her pictures at Wisteria Cottage run the gamut from a bold impasto bullfighting scene to landscapes, seascapes, flowers and birds done in acrylics, oils and watercolor.

Original paintings are sprinkled among the paper prints and giclees (editioned prints made with high resolution ink jet printers using pigmented inks on canvas).

Dowling taught art at Lincoln College for 25 years. She graduated from MacMurray College, then earned a master of fine arts degree from the University of Illinois and furthered her education at Illinois State University.

Dowling has participated in juried shows throughout the country and mounted 10 solo exhibitions. Her numerous awards include an honorary doctorate degree from MacMurray College. She is listed in "Who's Who in American Women," "Who's Who in the Midwest," "Personalities in the West and Midwest" and several other important directories of American artists.
